Art Demonstrations
For 45 minutes, some of our artists will be able to complete a piece of their artwork on the stage in front of everyone to show how their process is completed. There will be 2 artists on the main stage at once. Double the fun!
Below are the exhibitors who participated in our demonstrations for Art Vancouver 2023.

I am Joseph Muchina born in Nairobi Kenya. I am a full time artist. I developed a love for art at an early age while attending primary school. The late Mage indulged my creativity and gave me the basics of art in 1998.Later i read books on Monet, Van Gogh, Mattisse and Dali, all of whom have been a great inspiration. I started painting seriously in the year 2000 using both oil and acrylic.Other than brushes, I use the pallet knife for rough texture finishing. Since then, I have grown to become an international artist. My art has been sold in Africa, Europe, England, United States and Canada. In Kenya, my work is exhibited at Nairobi National Museum, Ramoma Art Gallery, Village Market, Museum of Kenya Art Gallery and American Embassy in Kenya.
Padmashree Nuggehalli
May 5th, 5:05 - 5:50 PM
I am a Indian-Canadian artist living in Vancouver, I am compelled to use art to showcase emotions of people from different walks of life. While India infused values in me such as kindness, love and humility, Canada gave me the strength and courage to be who I truly am and opened my eyes to vibrant cultures around the world. As a child I quickly noticed that my art was subjected to society’s approval and acceptable framework. To me art cannot exist without freedom of expression, and so I had given up on it. In 2016 I rediscovered myself through art and gained a new found confidence. I have been studying art and learning techniques on my own, and I am on a journey to showcase raw emotions, the beauty that surrounds us, and the depth that defines us.
Joseph Boutros Agape
May 7th, 1:35 - 2:20 PM
I first connected with God at the age of 8. I am not speaking about the God of any particular religion, but more the light within us which I call “The God Within”. We are all that light. My art journey started when I was 55 and became the foundation that led me to recouple with my relationship with the light within me. My artwork soon became a way of communicating back with God, bringing Divine light into my art. With my background in Electrical Engineering, and all of the healing energy work I’ve been doing for the last 35 years, I would love to awaken and empower you with a new appreciation and function of art that focusses on energy, vibration and frequencies. Since 2018, I have been creating acrylic abstract Divine art, as an intuitive self-taught artist. I am filled with energy and thirsty for alternative expression. My compositions are intense with strong contrasts that bring more healing power into my paintings. The pieces focus on the effects that feelings have in our lives. Creating, as well as being present with Quanta Divine Art in consciousness is ultimately freeing to the human Soul.

Im an contemparary artist , art teacher and mother of two children. I do oil paintings and watercolors. My works focus on the attitudes we should take in our complex society. I paint some beautiful stones lately , I named the Sage's stone series The stone is a liminal space between the tangible and intangible - an object of being - that now seems even more daunting to explore. It raises questions on not only the ephemeral state of nature, but the tangibility of human thought and action. Humans are fascinated by the intangible and its infinite possibilities. However, it’s also that infinite uncertainty that a need possesses us to categorize the complexities of the universe for the sake of comprehension. In the study of geology, all stones fit into a category, defined by its physical appearance and its chemical makeup. Some are then deemed as innately valuable, while others lie silent on the side of a street. But every pebble has witnessed centuries of change with unseeing eyes, and I wonder if we have become lost in an abundance of reason. Of course, without reason, humankind will be millennia behind, but for fleeting moments, the beauty of something more intangible shines - independent of reason, despite reason, because of reason. I think the stone can become an improvisational site for one to discover a tenuous relationship between the tangible and the intangible, the finite and the infinite.
Audra Townsend
May 7th, 2:30 - 3:15 PM
Audra is a free-spirited African Canadian abstract and mixed-media artist from Toronto. She is a trained Sociocultural Anthropologist, who believes as humans, art is a manifestation of our curiosity about the material world and, as such, an essential part of what it means to be human. To explore this relationship between art and the human experience, Audra borrows from Intuitive and Tactile Art forms in her paintings. Her work is characterized by a dense network of crisscrossing lines separating rectangles of multiple shapes made of different materials, earthy and celestial colours and textures.
