van Gogh, Wheat Field with Cypress Tree

Within 2 hours we will be drawing with pastels inspired by van Gogh's Wheat Field with Cypress Tree masterpiece. This project is full of energy, colours and life. Our professional instructor will assist you with this project and show you step-by-step how to make it. Steps include: composition, proportions, outlines, underlay, wide lines, shading and smudging, finishing lines for final touch. All supplies provided. Wear paint clothes or bring an apron.

Elena was born and spent most of her life in St. Petersburg, a cultural capital of Russia - a city of art, ballet and music.

Although Elena was interested in arts from childhood (as most artists do), she chose something more practical as a profession to pay bills. She got Master’s Degree in finance and built a good career in this area in Russia. However, in 2005, as soon as Elena could afford taking classes, she started approaching her dream - learning academic drawing and painting. Since then her new life has begun. In 2009, when Elena moved to Canada and settled down in Vancouver, she decided to quit finances and devote herself to arts. The same year Elena opened an art studio under RUSART Fine Arts name, where she has been teaching arts to children and adults. While Elena is fluent in any medium, she prefers painting in watercolours and oils, most traditional mediums in Russia. Since oil is a very deep and complex medium, every day Elena is practicing and sharpening her skills. Started as a realist, she’s gradually moving to surrealism and imaginative painting, creating her own world full of colours, love, and energy.
