This elk expresses how I feel about this last year or two. To me, this beautiful bull elk symbolizes our country's strength and the cry to move forward stronger, united, and with more justice. The bull elk is the king of his domain. He has a few predators, but he has little to worry about when he is strongest and in his prime. Elk live in groups and are rarely seen alone. Haven't we all learned the importance of community? As much we need other people, we need to treat our neighbors as we would like to be treated. After the craziness in our country over the last year, it is time to get back to the core of how things are supposed to be and find a sense of justice for all of us. We can then move forward, perhaps with eyes a little bit wider than before, and make sure we are all part of a common unity.

Jamie is an oil painter based in the Pacific Northwest. Artists Statement My goal is to manipulate light in my oil paintings and photography in a way that invites the viewer to come along on the journey. The structure of the work provides a roadmap for the eye. But the path is impressionistic, leaving the mind to fill in the blanks and the observer's soul to complete the scene. Each piece of art invites you on a different journey. And even though the eventual destination can be uncertain, the trip will provoke thought, feeling, and action.Year Participated in Art Vancouver
