  • ONYECHACHI

In the last three decades, Onyechachi's masterly execution of his realist subject matter has placed him amongst the most renowned artists in West Africa who adopt a more vocal approach in their practice. In this exhibition, we present three works created in the last 23 years, which offer a bold commentary on conflict and our flawed socio-political structures and epitomize his distinct visual language and signature light technique.

The Vancouver Visual Art Foundation, as the organizer of Art Vancouver, acknowledges that it operates on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the Coast Salish people of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) nations. We are grateful to be gathered here and recognize our privileged place on these lands.
